Dominant Performance

Bala Town secured a 3-0 win over Gresford Athletic on Friday at Maes Tegid, keeping their perfect start to the Novira Cymru North campaign intact. The Lakesiders, now three wins from three, dominated the match with three goals from Tom Kelly, Craig Lindfield, and Charlie Fisher, and added a clean sheet for new signing La'Trell Jones.

Bala controlled the game from the opening whistle, creating a host of chances and keeping Gresford’s goalkeeper Alexander Tyrrell on the back foot. Tom Kelly opened the scoring with a curling free‑kick that slipped past the wall, forcing a smart save from Tyrrell. Midway through the first half, a neat exchange between Kelly and Craig Lindfield set up an opportunity, but the shot drifted narrowly over the crossbar.

Key Moments

The deadlock was broken at the stroke of half‑time when Kelly’s corner was met by Lindfield, who powered a header into the net at the near post to give Bala a deserved lead heading into the interval. Seven minutes into the second half, Kelly again proved the architect, delivering a dangerous ball from the right that was expertly headed home by Charlie Fisher. The result was all but secured on the hour mark when Iwan Lewis produced the goal of the evening, a sweetly‑struck half‑volley that flew into the left‑hand corner, leaving Tyrrell with no chance.

The clean sheet for La'Trell Jones on his debut was a highlight for the new signing, as the Lakesiders added another three points to their perfect record.

Manager's Perspective

Manager Steve Fisher praised his side’s performance but said there is still more to come from the newly assembled squad. "I was pleased with the 3‑0 win. It could have been more and probably should have been more. We did really well in spells," Fisher said. "We were a little bit off it in the first half but we got the goal just before the break, which was important. Performance‑wise, I still think there's a lot more to come from us. We're a fairly new squad and it's taking time for everyone to gel together. You can see the improvement every game and every week, but we're still a couple of matches away from seeing this team at its best."

Fisher knows tougher tests lie ahead, with Bala facing Rhyl, Newtown and Porthmadog in their next three league outings.
