Bala Town and Colwyn Bay have won their appeals to be granted a Football Association of Wales (FAW) Tier 1 licence for the 2026-27 season. Bala Town, currently 11th in the JD Cymru Premier table, was refused a licence on personnel and administration grounds. The club's successful appeal ensures they will avoid a relegation battle with Flint Town United. Colwyn Bay, who are in the hunt for European qualification via the play-offs, have also been awarded an Uefa licence for next season. Jack Sharp, the FAW's head of domestic leagues, praised the collective effort of the clubs in meeting the required standards. Bala Town's successful appeal is a significant boost to the club's chances of competing at the top level next season. The FAW has announced that 22 clubs have gained a Tier 1 licence ahead of the 2026-27 season. Bala Town will be joined in the Cymru Premier by Holywell Town, who have guaranteed a top-three finish in the JD Cymru North. The New Saints and Connah's Quay Nomads are among the clubs that have been awarded an Uefa Men's Licence for the 2026-27 season. Bala Town's fans will be relieved that the club has secured its place in the top tier for next season.
