Bala Town lost 3-2 to Buckley Town in the FAW Championship North on Friday night, a result that leaves them fifth in the league table. The Lakesiders fought back from two goals down to level the match, only to concede a late penalty that handed the visitors all three points.

Buckley took a 2-0 lead into half-time. Ben Guest converted a penalty after 21 minutes, and an own goal from Ozzy Abadaki doubled the advantage before the break. Bala's response after the interval was strong. Ross White headed home on 62 minutes, and Okera Simmonds forced the ball over the line just two minutes later to make it 2-2. The comeback was undone with 16 minutes left, however, when Connor Littler scored a penalty for Buckley to restore their lead. Bala made a series of substitutions but could not find an equaliser.

Manager Steve Fisher was critical of his team's defending after the match. "We’ve had a few harsh words over the last couple of weeks because defensively we haven’t been good enough," he said. "We’re OK we’re scoring goals but we’re killing ourselves.

The result leaves Bala Town in fifth place with 19 points from 11 matches. Their next fixture is a trip to face Llanuwchllyn, who are currently 10th, on 24 October.
